Shoe repair shop ‘Hako’ looks forward to a healthy future.

Shoe repair ‘Hako’ is situated in the seaside resort of Vlissingen, directly opposite the ABC shopping centre. Besides its regular local customers, Hako also welcomes many summer tourists drawn to the town by the attractions of sea and sand. Some 15 years ago, Leen Posthumus successfully moved his business to Vlissingen. Reflecting the typical local attitude of ‘Less talking, more action!’, Leen and his wife Imke worked hard to build up a good reputation.

Easy and healthier working.

Initially designed through a turnkey project, the shop now boasts a fine Flexam in a corner arrangement by Jos America. The new machine offers the best dustextraction available, now with a Widia scouring roll for the left-hand scouring section. “Scouring rubber soles is now much faster, easier – and without the blue smoke. Another good feature is that Widia stays sharp. Normally you would have to replace your scouring bands several times”, explains Leen Posthumus. He has also chosen an external Flexam V80 extraction unit in the warehouse. This dust extraction technology was specially designed for shoerepair operations and is becoming increasingly popular: low dust levels, virtually noiseless, more working space and minimum maintenance.

Keeping up with the times.

The new shop interior is well organised, accessible and looks more spacious. Thanks to the external extraction system, there is more room to work, while the noise level is much more acceptable, making normal conversation possible. The colour of the Flexam system is techno silver grey with black accents. The key-cutting section with its handy sliding doors can accommodate more than 3,000 types. With the contrasting orange floor and clear mercury discharge lamps in the new ceiling, Hako is a good example of a modern trendy shoe repair shop, appealing to international and young customers.

The machines one-by-one.

This Flexam machine is made of 4 different units, put together in a corner. Both pre-sander as well as the Finisher are connected to the Flexam Vakuum 80 compact dustextraction system, that is situated in the stockroom directly behind the shop.
